You're Still Not Ready

from "Get Better":

When you’ve fulfilled the requirements and done all of your necessary hoop jumping, you will be equipped as a BASIC teacher. A NEWBIE. A Bare Minimum.

You are only beginning to learn. You will learn by doing things, screwing up, paying the price and figuring it out the hard way.

Document everything that happens: conversations with students, discipline issues, encounters with difficult parents, or reoccurring problems. It will be helpful in the long run should you have any serious issues.

Pay attention to the GREAT rehearsals. They might be few and far between. Bad rehearsals are important because they teach you to recognize GREAT ones.

Your ego will be your worst enemy if you let it. You’ve got the basics and you are competent.

Keep building your personal collection of talents and skills.

Keep getting better.
